【MYTCL】Employee English Contest

The 2nd Annual Managing Director's English Contest took the stage in Mine Town Hall on September 7th for the final and formal presentation portion of the 2017 contest.
More than 200 employees and senior management gathered to praise the efforts and the competitive spirit of the 10 finalists. 6 judges were assembled with top secret questions to ask the panel of finalists. The contest was intense and very close between many of the participants for 1st place.
This was the second portion of the overall contest. The first was an essay application, and the top 10 finalists were chosen by a panel of judges for the speaking portion. Marks and scores for both sections were based on use of language, comprehension, conversation abilities and writing capacity.
This year, to encourage more competitors into the contest, and to show recognition for the hard efforts of all 10 contestants, there were 10 prizes awarded with 10 cash awards as well.
This competition was inspired by senior management and supported by the Managing Director to encourage the learning of the English language within the organization. All key documents, the ISO systems, the Integrated Management System (IMS) and all international deigns and reporting structures are all written in English, making this language a critical element to management of the mine. By holding such competitions, a reward and recognition program is established to acknowledge those who excel in their English language learning efforts who are in positions below a Senior Supervisory Level. This program will assist MYTCL in building future leaders within the company, and ensuring that an ongoing international system is sustainable.
